2003-11-05 Feedback
I've had a bunch of feedback on my offer, most people pointed to http://www.self-core.org/~kaoru-k/wiki/LibSdlOnLinuxZaurus.html and said it was already mostly done. The idea of the reward is to produce a polished finished product - one which works in almost all situations, one which fits all required criteria. Sure 90% of the work has been done by the person at the above webite but the last 10% is what counts the most.
On a side note, if you think you are can meet this reward and don't want the money there are plenty of other places the money could go;
- Any Charity
- Towards a reward of your choosing
- Almost anything else you can think of
The reward still stands! Happy coding.
2003-11-04 First Reward Released
Well the first reward has been released.
Reward 1, libSDL for C7x0 OpenZaurus: The first reward will go to the person to produce a libSDL that works on C7x0 Open Zaurus and Sharp Rom in both 640x480 mode and 320x240 mode.
Introduction
I've decided to put my money where my mouth is, I'm offering a reward for getting certain pieces of Zaurus software working/finished. Currently I'm offering only one reward, however as I get more money I'll put up other rewards.
Rules
The following conditions apply to all rewards.
- Solution must be Open Source.
An Open Source piece of software is one which is available under a Free Software Foundation approved Open Source license.
- Only one person may submit the same solution.
If you are working in a group select on person to submit it and receive the reward. If the same solution is submitted by two people both solutions will be disqualified from receiving any reward.
- Commercial Entities can apply, but must follow all the other rules like everyone else.
No special considerations will be applied for commercial entities or commercial needs.
- I reserve the right to refuse entries which are considered "messy" or "hackish".
Entries which are badly formated, do not follow style of the original modified code, etc will be refused. Entries which have hard coded information which could easily be gotten from other means will be refused.
- All decisions are final.
There is no court of appeal, my decision is final.
- I reserve the right to change conditions and criteria at any time.
Any changes will be posted to this site. I don't really plan to change anything but you never know what can come up these days.
Deliverables
The rewards will be $150 Australia dollars which equals approximately $100 US dollars. This is not meant to reimburse commercial time spent developing solutions and it's doubtful it would even work out to be above minimum wage it you worked it out on hour per dollar. It's just a little incentive for people who would get around to doing it eventually for nothing to get a reward. The reward will be given to the first person to produce a working solution that fits all criteria.
I can transfer the money to the money using either PayPal or Australia Bank Transfer (if you have an Australian Bank Account). Other options are possible if anyone knows another easy to do way.
